A Place for Nourishment – Body, Mind & Community
Overall Planning: TEAM M Architects
Artistic Design & Concept: ISA STEIN Studio
Our vision was to design a space that brings joy – to students, teachers, visitors, passersby, and the wider community. Positioned prominently between the local middle school (NMS II) and elementary school, the new school kitchen sets a distinctive architectural landmark. The design also anticipates the future tram line, integrating urban foresight with sculptural presence.
At the heart of the concept are two offset squares that interlock to create spatial clarity and function: one houses logistics – the kitchen, changing rooms, and service areas – while the other opens up to a generous dining hall. The outer edges dissolve into a fluid, organic contour, evoking movement and openness.
All core installations are placed centrally, allowing the freeform outer structure to unfold without interruption or technical compromise. Floor-to-ceiling glazing floods the interiors with natural light and creates a seamless connection between indoors and out.
Above all, this is a space that reflects care – for nourishment, for community, and for thoughtful design. The organic architecture underlines the importance of food and the experience of eating together as a daily ritual worth celebrating.
